I should be cleaning but

What fun would that be?

If it's one thing ive learned this past year it's to be myself. to be real. I have been pretty real but looking back on past posts I don't feel like ive been real enough.

Does that make sense?

Im throwing out all the stops and this next year is going to be more exciting. more fun and most importantly, more personable.

I hope your all having a great weekend... this is what ive been up to.

sewing sewing and lots more sewing.

Although I have to take a break because the house is seriously just a wreck right now and is needing some of my attention.

But between sewing and not cleaning we also headed to the indoor flea market. Its pretty insane in there. its like a maze. just room after room, every nook, cranny and space is filled with something. but since we have a 3yr old with us we can't always take the extra time to really look through everything because every 5secs. i find myself saying 'Don't touch, stop it, put that down, you need to listen to mama!'.

I did snag this little gem up. Having some sort of coffee tree {is that what its called? I really dont know} never really crossed my mind. ever. but when I saw this it was like I just had to have it.

For $7.50, couldnt go wrong. I envision myself drinking hot chocolate around Christmas time with these little vintage mugs. {watch, that will never happen haha}.

At another goodwill type of shop I bought Jayden a tin-lunchbox for $2.00 but I didnt have 2 bucks cash on me so I needed something else to justify using my check card. I found these little mirror wooden wall hanging things. They are a dark stained wood {which matches the rest of the wood in the dining room} and they have a little ledge, i guess to put a candle holder on or something. I don't know, ill figure it out.

And see. told you my house was messy.

Etsy Projects - Preview

So im back for a quick post to show you all what ive been working on! [hence my lack of posting this past week]. Oh and have I mentioned our roof was leaking? [excuse me while I bang my head against the wall....]. So this past week I have been working on some more items for my shop. Right now it's currently in 'vacation mode' so I can stock up on items and im hoping to 're-launch' by the end of the month/first week of August.

Two new Camera Lens pouches.

I have been going stupidly crazy on fabric lately. I'm obsessed with all the colors, patterns and prints [I spent way to much $$$ this weekend buying some new fabric online]!

Small electronic pouches with flap. These are perfect for your phone, MP3 player or any other small electronic device that's out there on the market. I made different sizes ranging from small to big enough for an iphone.

Fits perfectly.

{sorry camera phone pic} These are my favorite pouches because they are simple and easy access. They are my simple no-flap phone pouches. Your phone slides in and out very easily.

I am currently using one for myself right now. Now that I have a new phone and all, the last thing I want to do it scratch it, scuff it or 'ruin' it in any way. These little pouches are perfect for when you just need to throw your phone in your purse along with any other items while heading out the door but at the same time, keeping it safe from all those other things rattling around in there.

Another new camera lens pouch, this one is inspired for Autumn/Fall!

AND last but not least... some finished camera strap covers. The ones on the left are 3" wide with top-stitching on either side making it 2.5" in the middle portion. The ones on the right are 2.5" and have no top stitching.

I hope you enjoyed some of my preview of what I have been working on. More certainly to come!

Sneak Peek

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! Our weekend has been seriously rainy. I can't remember the last time it has rained this much. I'm not gonna complain though. Our grass was starting to look a little burnt and crispy. One thing we did learn this weekend however, is we have a leak. Yes folks, we have a stupid leak. It's not major, but the vent in the living room was starting to drip and what do you know, we also noticed some drips coming down the wall.

Josh went up into the attic to check it out and he said it [looks] like water is coming in through the nail holes from the roof and that some of the wood up there is rotted from water. {Insert lovely right here}. SO... we have to figure out what to do next, although i'd like to find the previous owner of this house because the more and more we find things, the more and more we realize that him and his 'crew' didn't really do any work to this house, all they really did was 'patch' and 'cover' things up to make it look like stuff was done, and done the right way.

But whatever. Over it. ...for now anyways....

This weekend I have gotten some serious sewing time in. It's been a long time since I actually sat down, made some projects and used my sewing machine, so consider this leaky-roof therapy.

Sneak peak at some camera strap covers...

Camera Lens Pouch.

Camera Lens cap pouch.

Just a little sneak peek into what exactly ive been working on in the ol' 'studio'. Currently stocking up on items so when I take my Etsy Shop off 'Vacation', I will have a new stock of all kinds of fun things :)

{How to} Make your own Fabric Labels

Is it Monday? No... Well shoot. It feeeeeels like a Monday morning. Your probly wondering what kind of looney writes a post at 5 in the AM? Ya. I'm that kind of looney, but I was always a looney tune anyways ha! So yesterday I managed to squeeze in a trip to the craft store and a trip to Jo-Ann's, all in one hour [traffic was seriously on my side luckily]. My mission was to find the supplies to make some nifty little fabric tags and here I am today to show you how you can easily make some inexpensive fabric tags for all of your sewing projects!

First up is to create your image. As you can see in the photo above I have created a small image and pasted 18 of them on one document. Depending on the size of your twill tape, you will need to create an image in your photo editing software [I use Photoshop], in my case, since my twill tape is 1" wide, I created my document to be 1" wide and 2.5" long. Once finished I copied the label and created a new document. See the arrow at the bottom? That's showing you the size of the new document. 8.5x11 which is the size of the printable transfer sheets. The last step before printing your page is to 'mirror' the image. In photoshop you just go to Image>>Rotate>>Flip horizontal.

In case you were wondering what transfer sheets I used? I used These iron on sheets for light fabrics and ink-jet printers.

Document done in PS, load the sheets [with the usable side down] into the printer and click print.

When it comes to cutting you can use anything really. A ruler and some simple scissors? Sure! I used my Paper cutter for faster cutting and measuring.

Almost done! Next is the fun part. Gathering your twill tape [again, color and size is totally up to you, just make sure that if you get a darker color twill tape that you buy the transfer sheets for darker fabrics], ironing board and iron and your ready to go. The ironing part is easy, for mine I just laid my tape out on my ironing board and placed one of my labels on the tape and using the iron, just press down for about 10 seconds and wiggled the iron around a bit for a few more seconds, peel off, trim and Presto!

You have your new labels!

There you have it. A complete tutorial on how to make your very own fabric labels. All in all it was pretty inexpensive and as far as time, really didn't take all that long either.

My sewing machine has been collecting dust the past couple of months and I have missed it dearly. I'm really excited to get back into my 'studio' and start working and making more projects. How about you? Do you sew? Any new projects in the works?
