Night-stand Reveal

So I am back with a first installment of reveals. The first one was and probly is the easiest out of the bunch. You might have saw my post on Sunday where I showed you my ultimate thrifting finds? Well I decided to work on the little $15.00 nightstand I scored at the Goodwill. I am also working on re-painting the bed frame, so I have been bouncing back and fourth between the two, however the frame is being stubborn and requires multiple coats of paint, where as the little night stand is a little more laid back and only required about 2 good coats and it was done.

Here she was before. I think the thing that really did it for me was the handles on the doors. Just something about them that really stood out to me, and even now I still don't know what it is. Anyways this night stand is pretty solid and has some good junk in the trunk.

Very vintage looking. I'm really loving the whole modern vintage feel right now, so this old/brushed/gold color of the handles, along with the design really lit a fire under my butt and before I knew it the tag was swiped off and I was at that register paying for it like a mad woman.

The inside is in perfect shape. This will be great for some of Jaydens books and coloring supplies. The shelf isn't broken and surprisingly the little knobby-doobers were all still, saves me the trouble of having to rig something up for the shelf to perch on.

And for the color I went with Olympics 'South Pacific' [love the name. Makes me want to go on Vacation]......and I know.... paint on the hinges? No, that's not staying there lol.

I left the handles alone because like I mentioned earlier... Loving the vintage right now. Just gotta have the vintage and against the blue, love it. If they would talk they would say 'Hell yes I am super awesome'.

I still have to clean the paint from the hinges, but other then that this little night stand is ready for Jayden's room. I'm super excited to get it in there but im holding off until we have the bed finished, that way we can kind of just combine everything at once. I'm hoping by this weekend we will have it about 95% done. I still have some paintings to finish for his wall, and some other crafts [involving scrapbook paper.... and lots of it!], I am also thinking of doing something with his rug, but those ideas are still floating around in my head.

Not bad for $15.00 huh.

Stay tuned!

Now that's a Hoot!

This weekend consisted of quite a few projects for me [as mentioned in my post from yesterday]. Even though for some strange reason I felt super lazy, I managed to get numbers 2, 3, and 4 crossed off my list. Ooooh only 2728645 projects to go!

I will admit that project number 4 was totally on a whim. I happened to be cleaning Jayden's room and going through his clothes that don't fit him anymore and as always with me, what started with putting toys into his toy box, led to moving his little bed and than re-positioning the toy box, chalkboard and rocking chair, and then there I was, standing. Staring at a blank wall. I had a vision.

What came next was the result of a short trip to Lowes....

....$40.19 later and that is what happens when I casually clean my son's room. Boy... he sure is gonna love me when he gets older. Ha!

I found inspiration via Google search. After about 10mins. of soaking in all kinds of tree's painted on the walls of babies and toddlers bedrooms, I was ready.

Everything you see is totally free hand. I don't have a projector and really wasn't up for hand-rigging a flash light and cut-out picture.

The Owl was inspired by my Mr Tootsie Pop owl in the Living room. He was also free hand. -As you can see we are just so lucky enough to have textured walls [seriously, what is up with textured walls? Our last 2 homes ALSO had textured walls, luckily we don't have popcorn ceiling!].

Here is the other side of the room. I repositioned his chalkboard under the window [before it used to be between his two closets]. Of course his dresser which I scored for $20.00, which used to look like...

That

And Now looks clean and fresh like

 This for yes... only $20.00.

His toy chest used to be where the bed is now and moved to where the chalkboard used to be.

You might have seen these in the 4th photo up. This was also a super easy and super inexpensive idea. I bought 6 frames at Dollar General and took some cards out of Jayden's stash of 5038 flashcards. Spelled out his name and framed them. Total cost? -$6.00 + Tax.

Another favorite is his little Piggy-Bank which, whenever we find loose change, we let him put it in this little Piggy-guy.

And there you have it. I have found out that textured walls are not all that easy to paint straight lines on... But with determination I managed to finish the 'On a whim' idea that all started with putting away old clothes. After paint and a few hours, J has a little bit of character to his room.

The sad thing is, I think I was more excited about it than he was. All he wanted to know was where I put all his cars :: eye roll :: :)
