Museums and Transformers

This weekend we decided to head over to the Air Force Museum.

It's free to the public {they accept donations} and they have all of the decommissioned aircraft outside on display and inside they have a gift shop and a complete two level history of the Air Force.

It's a little bitter sweet for me to come here because as an Air Force Vet it brings back the memories I have myself when serving.

Jayden looooves planes. he's got that AF blood in him from his mama and daddy :)

When I was younger I always wanted to be a Pilot. im fascinated with planes and flight.

Then we came to one from my past. when I saw it, all the memories came flooding back.

I stood there and just stared. pictures came streaming through my mind like a slowly played slide show.

*Flashback*

My unit when we were on deployment with that very same one that is now on display at the museum. {in case your wondering, im 6th one in from the left hehe}

I felt like I should have been sitting in the American Legion telling old war stories.

*End Flashback*

They even had a new memorial. Dedication to the k-9 handlers and the k-9's themselves.

the inside was like a giant warehouse with a 2nd level around the inside edge of the building.

My grandfather was also in the Air Force and was in the Korean War {the forgotten war}.

A map showing the different camps for OEF and OIF. I was in Balad for OIF 2005 and 2006. It's a very dry, flat place with nothing but sand and the color tan.

all in all it was a fun day. Josh and I reminisced while Jayden had a ball running around looking at all the planes.

Also another thing I have been meaning to share with you now that we are on the topic of planes, Michael Bay {director for Transformers} and crew {along with Josh Duhmuel ...however you spell his last name} came to the base to film Transformers 3 last winter time frame.

They were there to film the scenes with the V-22 {the program I work on}. I actually work in that building right behind all this in the photo.

It was pretty cool to see and now that I have finally seen Transformers 3 {we are the kind of people to wait for a movie to come out on DVD} it was even more neat to see the scenes in the movie that were shot right where I work.

Hope your all having a great weekend! :)
